The Web Site Topic Report requires that Executive Branch agencies place the black bar containing the Commonwealth Banner at the top of each webpage. This banner is designed to provide a common tool for citizens unfamiliar with the structure of Virginia government.
Many other Virginia government entities which are not required to use the banner do so, in recognition of its citizen benefits. Any state government entity can freely use this tool.
Agencies are requested to implement the updated version of the banner by March 15, 2013.
The Commonwealth Banner has been updated with the following revisions:
The "Online Services" and "Help" links have been removed (as per the revised Web Site Topic Report to avoid confusion between portal services/help and agency-specific services/help).
Links to portal pages have been updated to go to the new portal pages (instead of to old URLs that are being temporarily redirected).
